Any bar, restaurant or small business that needs to play music for patrons needs a sound system that is optimized for the purpose of background music and/or entertainment. In some small businesses, a boombox will suffice. When the sound needs to be better, a larger system is called for. The power (watts) you buy is dictated by how loud you need the music. In a loud bar, you need more watts and bigger speakers to cut through the din.

The system shown above will provide good sound quality when played through speakers positioned carefully. It is much like a home stereo. 75 watts a channel is okay for a quiet place. The speakers should be mounted up high so that they reach the entire audience. If the music needs to be loud, figure on 100 to 300 watts of sound, played through 15" two-way cabinets. The remote speakers can be smaller, 8",10"or 12" two-ways.

Mount the amp and playback deck at eye level somewhere convenient to the operator and run the wires behind or along the walls and ceiling. If you opt for the subwoofer, feed it lots of power, seperately, and place it against a corner of the listening room. We also have self-powered subs available. The sub will add the big punch, and the music will sound louder, without cranking the main speakers.

A radio tuner, laserdisc player or turntable can be added to this system easily.
